Securing your Nexus Market account with PIN and mnemonic phrases

Published October 19, 2026 · Nexus Mirror Desk

Account security on Nexus Market relies on three layers. Login credentials, withdrawal PIN, and mnemonic backup. Your username and password protect the dashboard. Anyone with these can view your orders and chat. Add a second layer for moving funds. Set a withdrawal PIN in the settings. This is a separate four to eight digit code. It is required whenever you transfer coins out of the market to an external address. If a hacker guesses your password, they still need this PIN to drain your wallet. Make it hard to guess. Do not use your birth year or phone number. Combine numbers from different contexts. Change it quarterly. Write it down on paper and store it in a fireproof box. Digital backups can be lost to disk failure. Paper lasts decades.

Next is the mnemonic recovery phrase. This is a list of twelve words generated when you create the account. It acts as a master key. If you lose your computer and browser profile, you can restore access using these words. Treat them like cash. Share them with no one. Not even customer support. If someone knows the phrase, they own your account. Store multiple copies in different locations. One at home, one at a relative house. Test the backup annually. Create a test account, note the phrase, delete the account, and recover it. Ensure the process works. You will not remember the steps under stress during a data loss event. Practice now.

Optional PGP encryption adds another shield. Enable this in the settings if you plan to keep long term holdings. Encrypt sensitive chats and notifications. If your device is compromised, attackers cannot read encrypted messages without the private key. Generate your key pair offline. Import the public key into the market. Keep the private key offline. Never enter it into the web browser field directly. Use a USB stick or printout for handling. Two factor authentication is available via authenticator apps. Link your Google Authenticator or Authy app to the account. Scan the QR code once. Then enter the six digit code at each login. If you lose your phone, you lose access. Back up the TOTP seed separately. This combination of PIN, mnemonic, and PGP creates a strong defense. None of these steps are difficult. They take an hour initially. Spend that hour to avoid losing thousands later.
